The design of advanced mobile learning practice from the aspect of interaction

摘要

Most literature regarding learning mobile practice has described the ways of adopting the mobile technologies and demonstrated their effectiveness of learning. Only in the past few years researchers have begun to identify the constructs that might provide the comprehensive reasoning and understanding regarding why and how mobile technologies are adopted in the learning. From the viewpoint of Moore's learning interactions, this study proposes the concept of interwoven interactions through the assumed unique features of mobile learning, which are mobility/physicality and social interactivity, as the additional principle for the adoption of mobile technologies in learning. The interwoven interactions refer to that learners' social interaction is related to the subject content; hence learner-learner interaction and learner-content interaction are interwoven. The interwoven interactions expand the space of learning by reconciling the social, physical, and informatic worlds of learning. Such reconciliation not only enacts learners to exercise their multiple intelligences for learning, but also engages learners into cognitive activities of step-in, step-out and transmediation. It is intended to provide original thoughts and shed a light on how the mobile practices of learning can be designed with the most strength of mobile technologies in learning.
