摘要

A number of small molecule reactions on the clean Fe (100) surface, and on this surface modified by the adsorption of oxygen and sulfur, have been investigated. High resolution electron loss spectroscopy and thermal desorption spectroscopy have been used to characterize the dissociative adsorption of CO, the adsorption and decomposition of methanol and methanethiol, reactions of ethylene and reactions of water. The effect of surface modification by oxygen or sulfur on these reactions will be discussed. Adsorption and reaction of organometallic complexes on the hydroxylated surface will also be discussed.
