N1 - Funding Information: We thank Tokyo Institute of Technology, which sponsored and hosted the International Workshop on Business Ecosystem and Supply Chain Management at Tokyo Institute of Technology in Tokyo in Japan on 5–6 February 2015. This special issue is inspired by that insightful workshop. Funding Information: Dr. Jin Chen is a Professor of the Department of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategy at Tsinghua University, Beijing China. His research and teaching mainly focuses on management of technological innovation. Professor Chen has been awarded Special Government Allowance from the State Council of China. In 2002, he was awarded the Outstanding Youth Fund by National Science Foundation of China. In 2009, he was selected for the China's National Talents Project. In 2014, he was honored as a distinguished Professor of Chang Jiang scholars. Professor Chen is the Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Innovation Studies and International Journal of Knowledge Management Studies, the Associate Editor of Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Engineering Management Review, International Journal of Technology Marketing and International Journal of Foresight and Innovation Policy. He also serves as the Member of Editor committee of International Journal of Technology Management, International Journal of Innovation and Technology Management, International Journal of Technological Learning, Innovation and Development.
