摘要
Human resource management (HRM) is shaped not only by an organization’s strategic intent but also by the institutional and cultural environments in which the firm is situated. It proposes several directions for managers and researchers interested in HRM in Asia. In Southeast Asia, informal employment dominates the labor market. The prevalence of informal employment in Asia has to do with underdeveloped formal institutions. Asian cultural values shape the way in which Asians understand their social world and influence how companies in the region organize their HR practices. An important feature of the Asian business environment is its plurality, that is, the coexistence of different characteristics within one country. In relation to HRM, three drivers of institutional plurality are noteworthy: marketization; globalization; and migration. Technological innovation is impacting HRM in Asia in many ways. These include, employment opportunities, skill requirements, and the way in which personal information may be used to manage the workforce.
