摘要

The synthesis and related electrochemical properties of enzyme, glucose oxidase (GOx), modified carbon cloth electrodes, which are mediated by gold nanoparticles (Au NP) were presented. The Au NP with an average diameter of 4 nm were used as a significant electron relay or mediator for the alignment of the GOx on the carbon support. Meanwhile, the GOx was immobilized by flavin adenin dinucleotide cofactor on Au NP. Therefore, the biological catalysts, GOx, became much more stable on conductive carbon supports. The electrochemical behavior in a three-electrode system was studied using cyclic voltammetry. The immobilized GOx maintained its specific enzyme activity in the presence of glucose. The dependence of current density and the redox potential in the corresponding reaction was also studied. As a consequence, under optimal condition, good electrochemical behavior and large current could be achieved, thereby indicating the potential application in biofuel cells. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 230th ACS National Meeting (Washington, DC 8/28/2005-9/1/2005).
