title = "Exploring Chinese Lexicon Knowledge in Biliteracy Development of International Students in Hong Kong",
abstract = "This study explores the Chinese Lexicon knowledge in biliteracy development of teenagers at an international school in Hong Kong. It presents how Diagnostic Adaptive Chinese Competence (DACC) is applied to a total of 137 Grade 9 international students and their reading performance. The lexicon knowledge is one critical subskill [1] contributing to the overall reading performance [2] based on the component-skills approach. This study shows that 1) DACC is justified as a reliable and valid assessment test; 2) in the five dimensions of DACC, the Grade 9 students{\textquoteright} performance on literal comprehension, contextual integration, inferential comprehension, and analysis and evaluation are higher than the average of the norm group but lower when it comes to the Chinese lexicon knowledge. More studies focusing on biliteracy reading development with the learning of Chinese as a foreign language are needed in the near future.",
