Development of GENSET module technology of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles

摘要

The main purpose of this paper is to describe the development of the on-board generator (named"GENSET") equipped on Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) in Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Taiwan. Based on developed electric power components such as: Battery integration, DC/DC converters, traction motor and control units, ITRI hybrid powertrains were thereby established by combining above items and existing engine technologies. Two hybrid systems: A power-Assist 100kW powertrain for a SUV, and an 18kW full-hybrid powertrain in a light-duty vehicle were created. This paper focus on several ongoing research of key subsystems, such as: A 50kW PMSM traction motor, an on-board generator (named "GENSET"), enhanced vehicle controllers, an 8kWh/150A battery module, and battery management systems (BMSs). Based on technologies mentioned above, the prototype PHEV will be established. The key module, GENSET, is integrated by a 1.2 L/100N-m/50kW engine interconnected with a 20kW generator, which will be integrated into the ITRI PHEV at the end of this year. In this paper, the roadmap of future ITRI technologies will be demonstrated at the final part.
