Adaptive Aperture Adjustment for Autofocus Enhancement

摘要

The aperture of the camera controls the amount of incoming light and is typically determined in the auto-exposure stage. However, aperture size also affects the depth of field (DoF) in an image. A large aperture increases exposure quantity but reduces DoF on the image, while a small aperture offers a greater DoF at the cost of reduced incoming light. Using a smaller aperture, while maintaining constant exposure, requires either a longer exposure time or a higher ISO setting-both of which may introduce image noise or motion blur in dynamic scenes. This paper proposes an aperture control method that recommends an appropriate aperture size based on scene information, while simultaneously adjusting exposure and focus to achieve optimal image quality.
