A copolymer as a concrete admixture

摘要

Superplasticizer is an essential component in promoting greatly the workability of concrete. In this study, a copolymer RAM was prepared and evaluate as a concrete admixture. PAM was prepared from 2-acrylamido-2- methylpropane sulfonic acid, methacrylic acid and (α-N, N-dimethyl-N-acryloyloxyethyl) ammonium ethanate through free radical polymerization. The test results on cement pastes indicate that this polymer could uniformly disperse cement particles and enhance the fluidity of the system. Compared to a commercial SNF superplasticizer, PAM requires less dosage to achieve good fluidity, and fluidity-retention property. Limited test data also show that PAM shows better performance than SNF in terms of slump and slump retention of the resulting concrete.
