摘要
The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences between physically active and inactive older adults in performing somatosensory video games and their self-perceived health-related quality of life (HRQOL). This study utilized Wii to measure physical performance of the elderly in the community. A cross-sectional study of a purposive sampling was used to recruit 111 males (63.83 ± 7.96 years old) who were voluntarily to complete the Health-related quality of life and "Papa Bear Questionnaire and to participate the 3 Wii somatosensory games from July to August 2011 in Taiwan. SPSS 18.0 was utilized to analyze the data. The results showed that there is significant correlation between life quality and the level of physical activity (p < 0.001) and Wii performance (p < 0.01∼0.001). In addition, active elderly had significantly higher scores (p < 0.01) in Table Tennis and Table Tilt Wii games than those who were physically inactive. This study concluded that using Wii video games to promote elderly's health is a potential valuable approach to understand their physical fitness, to motivate them to exercise and to understand their HRQOL.p
