摘要
The purpose of this study was to compare the changes of cardiorespiratory fitness and body composition from 1981, to 1982 in 5 middleaged swimmers, with an average age of 55, who swam on a regular basis. For body composition the author found that the percentage of body fat seems to have the tendency of increasing, which caused bodyweight to inerease significantly (p<.01). Meanwhile, vital capacity, predicted Vo2 max, PWC170, maximal total work, heart rate responses to the same work lead (75 watts), and blood pressure during exercise did not decrease (p>.05). The result shows that swimming on a regular basis is helpful for maintaining good cardiorespiratory fitness in middle-aged people.
