摘要
In the beginning of 2005, I went to Beijing for an academic symposium, and on the way, I visited the Beijing Raptor Rescue Center (BRRC). The Center occupies an area of 1200 m^2, comprising more than 20 indoor and outdoor huts. At the facility, there are cages and rooms in which birds can practice flying, offices, an operating room, a food-preparation room, an educational center etc. As to personnel, the Center has a professional administrator, a feeder, and a veterinarian, and also attracts university students and other amateur volunteers who come to participate in the rescue work. From the opening of the Center at the end of 2001, the Center has dealt with more than 1100 raptors of more than 30 species, i.e., an average of one raptor a day. Facing such a large volume of rescue work, the BRRC has established a very thorough system. BRRC's experience can offer very useful assistance to Taiwan if such a center were to be established here in the future.
