101-102年科學教育學門研究規劃推動計畫

The development of national human resources relies on quality science education. In the past two decades, the science education discipline has been transformed from a single research area to an interdisciplinary research discipline. Particularly, since this year, the discipline includes multicultural science education and broader scientific education topics (e.g., mathematics, information education, and applied science), and starts to focus on science learning of diverse populations (e.g., new immigrant children, learning disadvantaged students, aboriginal students and female students). This promotion project will continue the spirit of innovation based on the efforts undertaken in the past years, follow the international trends in research and development, and meet the needs of the nation. The project will promote systematic and empirical research on important topics, such as science teaching methods, science experiments, classroom discourse, curriculum development, assessment and evaluation, science history and philosophy, and science inquiry, which will cover subjects of physics, chemistry, biology, earth sciences, and environmental education at K-16 levels. Additionally, the project will help coordinate the teams of researchers to plan and carry out cutting-edge research, conduct seminars and workshops to promote studies on important educational issues. The discipline will also support the career development of junior researchers and the formation of the local and international special interest groups in order to have an impact on research quality and policy making.
