華語多義詞詞彙學習網建置 (II)：L2華語詞彙習得研究

In the first year of the project, we have investigated, through research and practice, topics on polysemy and metaphor by examining their effect and difficulty on vocabulary acquisition for CSL learners and by testing, applying and refining materials suitable for both CLS teachers and learners. On one hand, we have reviewed and revised the content as well as adding more dialogues with a view to improving the accuracy and enhancing the practicality of the vocabulary learning website. On the other hand, we have analyzed words governed under “business” and “food” metaphors. By conducting experiments, we have explored Mandarin learners’ comprehension of metaphorical vocabulary. In this year, the project can also be divided into two parts: research and practice. For practical application, we have cooperated with relevant industry to comprise a polysemy e-book for self-learners based on the concept of the vocabulary learning website. We have also designed a teaching guideline for Mandarin instructors. For research, we have conducted experiments subjecting native speakers and foreign Chinese learners at home. We have also worked with Osaka University, University of Warsaw, and National University of Singapore to conduct experiments. The results of our studies have been documented in research papers and presented in international conferences. The results would be useful for the design of teaching materials and curricula for Chinese polysemy and metaphorical vocabulary.
