多媒體影片示範教學促進自閉症幼兒親子互動及社交技巧成效之研究─以台灣原生及新移民家庭為例

The prevalence rate of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) has increased globally. It has been a challenge for professionals to enhance quality of lives of families who have a child with ASD. Video modeling is one of the evidence-based instructional strategies for teaching children with ASD in the United States. The purpose of this proposed study is to investigate the effects of a lower-cost, more time-efficient generic video modeling, in opposition to individualized video modeling, on parent-child interaction of families who have a child with ASD in Taiwan. Therefore, this two-year-project for both children with ASD and their parents includes: (1) First year: producing the video modeling tape/DVD for the second year from observing the parent-child interaction between children with ASD and typical developing children and their respective parents in a natural setting; and (2) second year: examining whether generic video modeling can enhance parent-child interaction in Taiwanese families who have a child with ASD. The first year, observation will take place in a natural setting; the second year, single subject multiple baseline probe design will be used when implementing the generic video modeling. All two year the data collection system and dependent measures will be identical. After intervention, focus group will be conducted to invite the parent experiences of using video modeling strategy and to collect information for future GVM improvement. There will be 12 parent-child dyads, 8 children with ASD and 4 typical developing children; there was a total of 12 Taiwanese parents. The expected outcomes include: (1) improvement of parent-child interaction skills of children with ASD and their parents; (2) empowerment of parental self-efficacy and family happiness; (3) one post-research modified parent-child interaction video modeling tape/DVD; and (4) future reference for undertaking a video modeling tape/DVD series.
