This study compared parents’ and adolescents’ media use and internet/health risks in urban and rural areas and examined the effects of cyberbullying prevention and eHealth literacy program. In the first year, data were obtained from an urban sample (Taipei city) of 1,080 junior high school students and 688 parents and a rural sample (Yilan County) of 839 students and 730 parents. In the second year, there were 401 students and 278 parents in the experiemental group and 428 students in the control group. 1. On average, middle-school students spent more time on TV (11.29h), computer (9.44h), cell phone (including the Internet) (8.67h), while parents spent more time on TV (14.30h), computer (9.48h), cell phone (including the Internet) (6.88h). 2. Multiple regression results showed that parents who were younger, with higher education levels, not divorced or separated, and with a higher degree of Internet skills were more likely to implement active parental mediation. 3. Multiple regression analysis showed that adolescents who were male, in higher grades, spent more time on online games, had lower Internet literacy, and had lower levels of restrictive parental mediation were more likely to have passwords/money stolen online. 4. Multivariate analysis results showed that factors associated with parent’s and students’ online health information seeking included internet literacy and ehealth literacy. 5. Youth cybervullying preventive education intervention significantly increased student’s cybervullying preventive literacy and self-effecy, and decreased cyber risk intention and behaviors. In addition, ehealth education intervention significantly increased student’s ehealth literacy and self-efficacy. 6. Parent cyberbullying prevention and ehealth pamphlet significantly increased parents’ cybervullying preventive literacy, ehealth literacy, and parental mediation self-efficacy.
