N2 - The validity and reliability of the Leisure Assessment Inventory, a tool developed to measure leisure behavior as it applies to adults with mental retardation, was examined. Leisure behavior was assessed using four indexes: Leisure Activity Participation, Leisure Preference, Leisure Interest, and Leisure Constraints. The inventory was administered to 92 adults, ages 30 and older, with mild to moderate mental retardation. Two indexes (Leisure Activity Participation and Leisure Interest) demonstrated higher reliability from test to retest whereas the remaining two (Leisure Preference and Leisure Constraints) showed only moderate consistency. Overall findings provide evidence of the inventory's stability, consistency, convergent and discriminant validity, and construct validity.
