Abstract

We have developed a simple aerobic synthesis of benzyl Meldrum's acids from benzylidene Meldrum's acids with Et 3B or RI/Et 3B. The reaction system has also been applied successfully to the synthesis of benzyl Meldrum's acids in a one-pot procedure.
