Abstract

The new copper reagent RCu(CN)ZnI 2, which may contain important functional groups like the ester, nitrile, enoate or imide group, react in the presence of BF₃.OEt₂ with aldehydes to afford polyfunctional secondary alcohols in good yields (68-93%).
