Abstract

Treatment of carboxylic acid functionalized (η4-diene)Fe(CO)3 complexes with 3.0 equiv. of NOBF4 in the presence of Et3N generates γ- and δ-lactones containing an α,β-unsaturated aldehyde or oxime functionality after NO+ insertion.
