N2 - The study integrated nature disaster and tourist databases to understand how the impact of extreme weather event on tourist arrival. Through multilayer perceptron analysis, the relationship between extreme weather events and the tourist arrival was estimated. Data were collected from National Fire Agency and Tourism Bureau for the period 1990-2010. The results of the investigation show that the key extreme weather event in spring is heavy rain; in summer and autumn, the threat of typhoons is the major factor, and in winter, it is the cold air incursion. In conclusion, the seasonal variation in the tourist arrival is affected by different types of extreme weather events. Furthermore, the scale of the extreme weather event was the most important factor that affects the change in the tourist arrival.
