Abstract

Few studies have explored Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) esports in the context of education. However, it is crucial for higher education to acknowledge and implement the technological advancements and educational value of MOBA esports, such as fostering a confidence, communication skills, cooperative attitude, critical thinking, and continuous improvement of attitude (the 5Cs). To assess these values in MOBA esports games, this study adapted the expectancy-value theory (EVT) to explore the educational values perceived by players. Thus, the aim of this study was to understand the correlations between the 5Cs and continuance intention. This using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS) for structural equation modelling (SEM) after invalid responses were removed. The findings indicated that esports game self-efficacy had an association with the 5Cs educational value positively and that the 5Cs educational value had an association with continuance intention to play esports games positively.
