Abstract

Most readers usually spend much time finding the locations of books they want to borrow in libraries with varied collections. Recently, some libraries have applied positioning technologies, such as FRID or Wi-Fi, to provide mobile services to help their readers find books by a time-saving way. Certainly, it is a real big cost incidence for most libraries and even may not have adequate human resources and budgets to control and maintain the system running well. Considering the limited and dwindling funding restrictions, in this study, we try to adopt NFC technology collocated with mobile devices, such as smart phones, to develop a novel but affordable book finding system. It is expected that system will both satisfied the needs of libraries (lower costing) and users (finding books quickly).
