N2 - The Cu Kβ/Kα intensity ratios have been measured for copper compounds of Cu2O, CuO, Cu2S, CuS, CuF2 and CuCl2 and high-Tc superconducting cuprates of Y(Ba1-x Srx)2Cu3-0.21xMo0.21xOy with x=0 - 1. The large increase of Cu Kβ/K α intensity ratio in high-Tc superconductor relative to other copper compounds is interpreted as the increase of transitions from Cu valence band to Cu(1s) state, when Cu(3d) and O(2p) are highly hybridized. The decrease ofCuKβ/Kα intensity ratio with the increase of x in the high-Tc superconducting cuprates indicates both the Sr and Mo ions have negative input to the degree of hybridization of Cu(3d) and O(2p) bands.
