Abstract

Increased links are established between education institutions and the nursing industry to prepare students for maximum efficiency by the time the courses are completed. Relationships and working experiences are crucial in increasing productivity. Teachers also need to be aware of the needs in the nursing field, and the importance of enterprise learning cannot be overlooked. The present research examined the enterprise-academic experiences of Chinese-Mandarin teachers in higher education institutions across Taiwan. Factors such as current and preferred enterprise learning methods, desired rewards and motivation, reasons for participating in current enterprise learning, and perceived obstacles were investigates, as well as variances in job title and education levels were explored. Statistical software SPSS 15.0 in conjunction with carefully developed questionnaires were adopted in the present research. 72 returned questionnaires from 12 colleges, universities and institutions across the nation were examined. Results show differences between job titles in terms of preferred method of enterprise learning, and that granted official leave was the most desired reward overall. Lack of interest was a major obstacle. Education institutions are advised to provide wider variety of enterprise learning opportunities and facilitate integration of enterprise experience into teaching. Future research may focus on conducting surveys in different working fields.
