Abstract
Synthesis and structural characterization of a mononuclear cobalt(II) complex [Co(SCN)2(L)] [L = N,N′-(bis(pyridine-2-yl)benzilidene)-1,2-ethanediamine] (1) is reported. Molecular geometry of the complex is found to be distorted octahedron with CoN4S2 chromophore. 1 is shown to respond in catecholase activity in methanol and acetonitrile. In each solvent Michaelis-Menten reaction kinetics were followed. The reaction mechanism of the catecholase activity is investigated using mass spectrometry.
