Abstract

1-Halopen-2,4-dienes CH₂CHCHCHCH₂X (X = Cl, Br) undergo facile oxidative addition with complexes of the type trans-MCl(CO)(PR₃)₂ (M = Rh, PR₃ = PMe₂Ph; M = Ir, PR₃ = PMe₂Ph, PPh₃). The configurations of these adducts were elucidated by combining their far-IR, ¹H and ³¹P NMR spectra.
