Abstract
An overview is given of the very unusual clustering phenomenon of Co adatoms nucleated on the β-Si3N4(0001) ultrathin film. Besides the present examples, it is proposed that this method can become a general approach for preparing monodispersed (N<100) metallic clusters on a supporting substrate.
