Abstract

The robustness of image compression algorithms has become more critical with the increasing demand for image data transmission systems over noisy channels. To affect robust image compression, the dynamic bit allocation was applied to the block-based Embedded Zerotree Wavelet (EZW) algorithm. The performance of the block-based EZW algorithm can be further improved if noise statistics are used in bit allocation which assigns bits to each block.
