Abstract

In this paper, we present an effective three-dimensional (3-D) image restoration algorithm for image sequences. In the algorithm, the image sequences are modeled with 3-D Markov random fields. Based on the model, the noise reduction is performed using the iterated conditional mode (ICM) technique. As compared with the existing two-dimensional (2-D) image restoration algorithms, the 3-D restoration algorithm is found to enjoy a significantly better performance.
