Abstract

The reaction of benzophenone imine complex (NHCPh2)[Ru]Cl 1 {[Ru] = Tp(PPh3)Ru; Tp = HB(pz)3, pz = pyrazolyl} with HCCPh in the presence of H2O afforded the cis-alkynyl(vinylidene) complex [Ru](CCPh)(CCHPh) 3, as well as two alkenyl ketone regioisomers [Ru]C(CH2Ph)CHC(O)Ph 4 and [Ru]C(Ph)CHC(O)CH2Ph 5. The combination of insertion and hydration process resulted in the unprecedented formation of the alkenyl ketone complexes.
