Piezoelectricity induced terahertz photon absorption by confined acoustic phonons in wurtzite CdSe nanocrystals

Abstract

We observed the first piezoelectricity induced terahertz (THz) photon absorption related to the confined acoustic phonons in nanoparticles. It provides a new mechanism for THz photon-phonon conversion in low dimensional systems.
