Abstract
The evolution of instant structure in homogeneous magnetic fluid films was analyzed under the magnetic fields perpendicular to the film surface. The investigation of corresponding magnetochromatics for the magnetic fluid films was also performed. It was found that the column spacing of the hexagonal structure in the magnetic fluid films varied dynamically under variable magnetic field. The results showed that utilizing the magnetic fluid films, optical devices may be developed.
