Magnetic properties of of ultrathin Co/Ag/Pt(111) films

Abstract

Magnetic properties of ultrathin Co/Ag/Pt(111) films were studied. It was found that the easy axis of 2-7 monolayer (ML) Co/1 ML Ag/Pt(111) switches from the in-plane to the out-of-plane when the Ag and Co a complete atomic exchange. The results showed that the perpendicular Kerr rotation greatly enhances when the surface alloy of Co-Pt is formed.
