Abstract

Measurements of ac losses for in situ prepared superconducting composites consistently show loss values higher than those observed for bronze process materials. If there were no cross coupling between filaments the ac losses would be much lower because the filament size is on the order of 100 nm. There is, in fact, both proximity coupling and some cross joining of filaments so the losses are substantially higher.
