Abstract

In this paper, proposed and analyzed is a new and simple optical method for the enhancement and restoration of decaying holograms in photorefractive media. Results indicate that extremely weak holograms can be enhanced provided that the two-beam coupling is sufficiently strong. The results also provides an explanation for the formation of mutually pumped phase conjugation in terms of successive enhancement of an initial noise grating.
