Abstract

Terahertz time-domain spectroscopy was used to investigate the optical properties of oxyfluorosilicate glasses doped with neodymium (Nd3+) ions. The refractive indices and absorption coefficients of such glass samples were found to be 3.7 and below 10 cm-1at 0.5 THz. Exhibiting high-refractive index and low loss, the Nd3+:Oxyfluorosilicate glasses are attractive for THs device applications.
