Abstract

The necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a sliding regime and the occurrence of hitting in a VSS (variable structure system) are established, by switching all or some of the states with the plant being described by any state representation along with parameter uncertainties. Three examples are presented for illustrating the design technique.
