Abstract
The temperature dependence of the London penetration depth, lambda (T), has been determined by measuring the low-field magnetisation for RBa 2Cu3O7-y samples, where R=Y and Gd. The lambda (0) value obtained from the magnetic measurement was about 0.6 mu m for both GdBa2Cu3O7-y and YBa2Cu 3O7-y. The lambda (T) was compared with the empirical law: lambda (T)= lambda (0)(1-(T/Tc)4)-12/. The results are discussed.
