Abstract

The concept of Balanced Scorecard (BSC) was widely adopted as a managerial tool to assist managers on defining strategies by considering not only the short-term financial measures only but also long-term strategic objectives. Scholars also tried to adopt various Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) based BSC approaches aiming at resolving real world problems. Albeit popular, the past MCDM based BSC approaches may be based on unrealistic assumptions or hard to be manipulated in the real world. Thus, this research intends to develop a DEMATEL based ANP approach being developed by Prof. Tzeng, Gwo-Hshiung. An empirical study on one of the leading Taiwanese telecommunication companies based on surveys of the top management as well as managers of functional departments will verify the feasibility and efficiency of the DANP based approach. Strategies will be derived and further confirmed by the top management of that telecommunication firm.
