Abstract

This article analyzes loanwords and other foreign language influences in French culinary art. In Le lexique culinaire Ferrandi, a professional culinary dictionary, about 8.8 % of the terms are loanwords or influenced by other languages. Most of them are direct loans, adapted or not. The number of Japanese loanwords is in third position after English and Italian. The results suggest that, from a lexicological perspective, French culinary art adapts to the latest trends.
