Effects of Gender and Age on Learning Spatial Concepts from a Virtual Reality Game

Abstract

Spatial ability is recognized as a type of cognition which might influence individuals' learning performance and career development. A former study revealed that there are significant gender differences in spatial ability. Based on the research, the aims of the present study were to explore whether there are significant gender and age differences in virtual reality (VR) spatial game performance. A total of 237 valid data were collected. The results only revealed that there was a significant age difference in VR spatial game performance, but no gender difference. We also found that the Flynn effect might have affected the results.
