N2 - This study explored the effects of using a role play game environment for elementary students to learn prime number concepts. The effects of learning strategy and level of prior knowledge on fifth-grade students' learning of prime number concepts were examined. The results showed that (1) the exploratory RPG game-playing served as an effective educational tool for motivating learners and eliciting learning performance, and (2) students with high prior knowledge achieved better performance than those with low prior knowledge when learning from game-playing.
