Abstract

In this work, we design a web system for an interactive quantitative (IQ) curriculum map. With the intuitive graphical user interface (GUI), the administrator and user can easily build and read the map, respectively. Several functions are implemented to increase the accessibility of the IQ map. For example, after the administrator builds the map, the locations of courses in the map are optimized for clarity. Students can focus on the local information by clicking a certain course, which generates a submap that only includes the related courses. More- over, the graphical curriculum data is extracted and analyzed by applying the graph theory. The quantitative features of the courses, e.g., the difficulty level, are calculated and shown in the map. The proposed IQ map allows the students to have better understanding of their curriculum, which can be extended to several interesting applications, e.g., course recommendation.
