Abstract

Excitation of the 3 u1X g+1 transition in Cs2 by the 476.5-nm line of an argon-ion laser in the presence of inert gases results in emission from the 7p 2P3/2 and 7 P1/22 atomic states of Cs. This verifies 6 S1/22+7p P2 as the dissociation products of 3 u1 and a dissociation energy of 4730.50.8 cm-1 for the 7p 2P3/2 limit or 4911.50.8 cm-1 for the 7 P1/22 limit.
