Abstract
We propose a broadband hybrid metasurface absorber based on a magnetic resonance for X- and Ku-band electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding. The designed structure incorporates a patterned resonator layer, a dielectric layer, and a conductively reflective layer. By leveraging multi-resonant mechanisms, including LC and magnetic dipole resonances alongside cavity-assisted effect, the absorber achieves near-perfect peak absorption (greater than 97%) and maintains approximately 90% efficiency across the 8–18 GHz frequency range. Numerical simulations demonstrate wide-angle absorption with robust angular stability up to 60° for both transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) polarizations in the xz - and yz -planes. This ultrathin and lightweight design offers a promising solution for EMI shielding and electromagnetic compatibility in various applications.
