Abstract

The spectral responsivities of a color video camera are very important electro-optical characteristics for image formation. In this paper, an automatic testing and measurement system for camera spectral responsivities is proposed. This technique primarily involves a spectral characterization process. This process is to excite a camera by a collection of colored incident light, called color stimuli, so that the spectral features of camera imaging can be truly extracted from observations. In our experiments, the satisfactory results show that the normalized mean squares estimation errors for color channels are all less than 0.03. It appears that our approach considerably simplifies the hardware complexity of conventional approaches for spectral measurements.
