Abstract

Measurements are reported for positive-ion induced L-subshell ionization cross sections ratios. For α-particle projectiles, the L_III/L_II low-energy behavior for Au and Pt differs dramatically from that for Ta and Bi. Correlation with the outer electron configurations of these atoms is suggested.
