Aperture Control for Video Recording of Digital Cameras

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contribution

Abstract

Consumer cameras generally lack adjustable apertures, yet this feature is essential in certain situations. Larger apertures enhance the signal-to-noise ratio when capturing images or videos in low-light conditions, while smaller apertures provide a greater depth of field in the focus plane. However, the time-consuming process of aperture adjustment makes dynamic changes and exposure control during video recording challenging. In this paper, we propose a novel approach that enables aperture adjustments during video recording, extending the advantages of variable apertures from still images and previews to video capture.
