Abstract

Photon mapping is a two-pass method of ray tracing that makes the computation of caustics and soft indirect illumination relatively fast. Besides, the irradiance cache is rfaut method to further speed up the computation of indirect illumination in a Monte Carlo ray tracer. This paper presents rfaut method that uses the concept of irradiance cache in multiresolution to cache the irradiance of each light component in photon maps. Our method can not only make the computation more efficient but also preserve the details of scene.
